Extend a weak WiFi to your mobile phone using macOS Internet Sharing

I'm currently staying at place that has a central WiFi access point at the main building, and my room is the furthest. I can get reasonable signal on my laptop, but my phone—which has a weaker antenna—cannot reliably sustain a connection.

My solution is to use the Internet Sharing feature in macOS to use my laptop as a bridge between the WiFi and my phone.

1. Connect your phone to your laptop using a lightning USB cable
2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center
3. Turn off WiFi and the mobile data network
4. Open System Preferences in the Apple menu.
5. Click Sharing
6. Check Internet Sharing
7. Check iPhone USB
