If you ever need to select a line or section of lines in Microsoft Word, move the cursor into the left margin. The cursor will flip from pointing to the upper-left to pointing to the upper-right. It’s subtle and easy to miss. Now when you click, a whole line of text is selected. And if you drag up or down, you can select a block of text.
And while we’re on the topic of text selection, you know about contiguous selection, but did you know that you can select discontiguous regions of text? Just hold down the Command key while selecting and the region you select will be added to the existing selection. You can even use it with the line selection trick above to select various lines of text in your document.
OK, and one more selection trick. If you use styles (and you should for reasonably long documents), you can right-click on the style in the ribbon and choose Select All Instances which makes it easy to update a style.
